# ELT/CDC: What is Data Observability

> Learn what Data Observability is and how it helps teams verify data system health, detect anomalies, and maintain data quality in Integrate.io.

**Data Observability** enables a team to verify the health of systems and their data. And then send an email alert when a metric goes of range. This is really important for DataOps. As an example, when an upstream system’s data goes out of an acceptable range, the data warehouse team gets an alert making it much faster to know about an issue. And this alert can also be sent directly to the owner of the system that provides the data - so they can quickly investigate & fix the data issue.
