# ETL: ABS

> Calculate the absolute value of any numeric expression in your ETL pipeline. Useful for distance calculations and data normalization tasks.

## Description

Returns the absolute value of a number.

## Syntax

`ABS(numeric_expression)`

## Examples

`ABS(-343)` returns 343.0

## Return value datatype

Same as input datatype

## Impact of null value

If input is null, returns null.
