# ETL: LCFIRST

> Convert the first character of a string to lowercase while preserving the remaining characters. Use LCFIRST for text normalization in ETL jobs.

## Description

Converts the first character in a string to lower case.

## Syntax

`LCFIRST(string_expression)`

## Examples

`LCFIRST('HELLO')` returns 'hELLO'.

If input is null, returns null.
