# ETL: SHA1

> Calculate the SHA-1 cryptographic hash of a string value. Use SHA1 for checksums, data integrity verification, and fingerprinting in ETL jobs.

## Description

Calculates the SHA1 hash of a string

## Syntax

`SHA1(string_expression)`

## Examples

`SHA1('hello world')` returns 2aae6c...e846ed

## Return value datatype

String

## Impact of null value

If input is null, returns null.
