# ETL: SHA512

> Calculate the SHA-512 cryptographic hash of a string value. Use SHA512 for secure hashing and data integrity verification in ETL data pipelines.

Calculates the SHA512 hash of a string

## Syntax

`SHA512(string_expression)`

## Examples

`SHA512('hello world')` returns 309ecc...9cd76f
