Machine learning (ML) is the area of artificial intelligence (AI) that focuses on how algorithms learn to change and grow. This emerging technology is already a big part of modern life, such as the automation of various tasks and voice-activated technologies.
ML is closely linked to big data, data mining, data analytics, and various other aspects of data management. That’s why machine learning events are a hot destination for data scientists, IT professionals, and even business leaders who want to explore how ML can help their companies — from startups to huge enterprises — grow and adapt.
Below we list nine of the most anticipated ML conferences of 2022, and why you may want to attend.

3rd International Conference on Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning (NLPML 2022)
Dates: May 28 to 29, 2022
Location: Vancouver, Canada
Natural language processing (NLP) means being able to communicate with machines in much the same way we do with each other. This fairly new machine learning and AI conference explores this field and how machine learning helps us get closer to true NLP.
Although specific details on the venue haven’t yet been released, it looks like nearly 40 respected data professionals and figures from academia have already contributed papers and talks to this event, making it a desirable destination for anyone interested in the various applications of machine learning and natural language computing.
Price: TBA. Registration opens early 2022
Machine Learning for Healthcare 2022
Dates: August 5 to 6, 2022
Location: Duke University, Durham, North Carolina
This industry-specific conference on machine learning brings together big data experts, technical AI and ML experts, and a range of healthcare professionals to explore and support the use of increasingly complex medical data and analytics. The 2021 event included fascinating subjects, such as utilizing data patterns to provide early diagnosis of particular conditions, training domain adversarial neural networks, and how deep learning could support stroke rehabilitation.
Price: TBA. Registration is not yet open for this event, but the organizers are looking for professionals to submit papers either on clinical work or software. The submission deadline is April 14, 2022.
International Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems
Dates: February 16 to 22, 2022
Location: Dubai, UAE
Machine learning and deep learning have a variety of use-cases, from the identification of rare species to facial recognition. This conference encourages both experts and students in academia and research to explore neural information processing and to share their experiences and successes.
Price: Registration starts at 200 euros (around $225).
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) BigComp 2022
Dates: January 17 to 20, 2022
Location: Bangkok, Thailand
This popular event combines big data and smart computing. Topics include machine learning, AI for big data, and a variety of data science subjects ranging from communication and data visualization to bioinformatics.
Price: TBA. Despite this conference occurring early in 2022, details on registrations are currently limited. This is due to the changing landscape regarding COVID-19, and IEEE organizers have said that if the situation worsens, BigComp may switch to a virtual event. It’s more than likely to be a hybrid event similar to many of the other IEEE events over the past 18 months.
World Data Summit
Dates: May 18 to 20, 2022
Location: Amsterdam, the Netherlands
The World Data Summit is one of the top international conferences for data professionals in all fields. This year, the World Summit's focus is on big data and business analytics, of which machine learning is a crucial aspect. The questions are: how can big data become more useful and how do businesses create better analytical models?
Notable speakers at this data and analytics summit include Richard Benjamins, AI and data strategist of telecom giant Telefonica; Candice Ren, cofounder of 173 Tech; and Juan Venegas, an AI trainer from Growth Tribe.
Price: 795 euros ($897) for a single day of workshops, 1,295 euros ($1461) for the conference without workshops, or 1,595 euros ($1799) for a combination ticket. Attendees who register before December 15, 2021, can take advantage of a two-for-one offer.

AI & Big Data Expo
Dates: December 1 to 2, 2022
Location: Olympia, London
The AI & Big Data Expo bills itself as the “...leading Artificial Intelligence & Big Data Conference & Exhibition event,” and it expects 5,000 attendees in late 2022. Topics at this AI summit include AI algorithms, virtual assistants, chatbots, machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, business intelligence (BI), and a range of analytics subjects.
Expect top-tier speakers like Myrna Macgregor, the head of machine learning strategy at the BBC, and Bank of America’s Anita Patel, an expert data scientist. The organizers, TechEx, also run various events in Europe, including the IoT Tech Expo and the Cybersecurity and Cloud Expo.
Price: Free expo passes that give attendees access to the exhibition floor are available, while full passes for speakers and networking opportunities start at £449 (around $600).
ML Conference 2022
Date: March 31, 2022
Location: New York City, New York, venue TBA
MLconf™ NYC invites attendees to “connect with the brightest minds in data science and machine learning.” Past speakers have come from top companies that have taken machine learning to the next level, including Facebook, Google, Spotify, Red Hat, and Amazon. Expect experts from AI projects with a range of case studies looking to solve difficult problems in big data, analytics, and complex algorithms.
Price: Tickets via Eventbrite start at $249.
Data Science Salon Hybrid
Date: February 16, 2022
Location: Miami, Florida, and online
This data science conference has a community feel — data scientists and machine learning specialists from all over the world meet to educate each other and share their best practices. Past speakers include Sonali Syngal, a machine learning expert from Mastercard, and Shruti Jadon, a machine learning software engineer from Juniper Networks.
Price: The virtual event is free to attend, while in-person tickets start at $495.
Dates: July 17 to 23, 2022
This is the 39th International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML), and it will bring some of the leading minds in machine learning together. Currently, the organizers are planning a physical event, but there is no venue confirmed as of yet. With people from Facebook AI Research, Deepmind, Microsoft Research, and numerous academic facilities involved, this is the one to attend to learn about the very latest developments in machine learning.
Look out for further announcements about machine learning events for 2022. It’s likely Nvidia will repeat its GTC event, which was hugely popular in 2021. The ODSC Europe Virtual Conference is another event that will probably reoccur next year, as is ML Prague. Gartner’s many events are likely to switch from virtual to in-person or hybrid for 2022.
Additionally, the ACM tech talks series is a great online resource for tech professionals to stay up-to-date with the world of machine learning and AI, while the AAAI Spring Symposium is going to focus on knowledge engineering for hybrid intelligence.
