Fivetran is a managed ELT service known for easy connector setup. Its consumption pricing, based on monthly active rows (MAR) per connection, can spike without warning, and transformations run in dbt rather than in the pipeline. What's changing
In March 2025, Fivetran moved MAR pricing from the account level to each individual connection, which removed volume discounts across connections for many teams. In January 2026 it added a base charge for standard connections and began counting deleted rows toward paid MAR. If your bill has jumped, a fixed fee takes volume out of the equation.
