Overview

Talend (now part of Qlik) is a mature enterprise data integration platform with a large connector library and strong data quality features. Its Java-based Studio, long implementation cycles, and move to capacity-based pricing make it heavy for teams that want to move quickly. Integrate.io replaces it with a visual pipeline platform, fixed-fee pricing, and a migration tool that does the mechanical work of porting your jobs for you.

What's changing

Talend Open Studio end of life

Qlik retired Talend Open Studio, the free open-source edition, on January 31, 2024. It is no longer hosted or updated, so teams still running it get no bug fixes or security patches, and Qlik's path forward is a paid Qlik Talend Cloud subscription. Our migration tool reads Open Studio job exports the same way it reads commercial Talend Studio exports, so you can move straight to Integrate.io instead.

How we migrate you off Talend

The migration tool does the mechanical work, our Solution Engineers do the rest.

  1. 1

    Assess

We inventory your Talend setup from an export or its configuration, so nothing is missed before the move.

  2. 2

    Map

Every Talend component and connection is matched to its Integrate.io equivalent.

  3. 3

    Convert

The migration tool rebuilds your jobs and translates the logic automatically. Anything it cannot translate with confidence is flagged for a Solution Engineer.

  4. 4

    Validate

We run both platforms in parallel and compare outputs before you commit.

  5. 5

    Cut over

Your current setup keeps running until the new pipelines are proven, then you switch over with a Solution Engineer alongside you.

Why teams leave Talend

Developer-only, Java-based tooling

Building and maintaining Talend jobs means Java, tJavaRow components, and Studio expertise. Business users cannot self-serve, so every change queues behind engineering.

Months to implement, heavy to maintain

Talend deployments typically run for months and need dedicated resources to keep running, which pulls engineering time away from delivering data.

Pricing that moves with usage

Qlik Talend Cloud is priced on capacity (data moved, job runs, and job duration), so the bill grows as your pipelines do. Some teams are still on older contracts, but the direction is usage-based.

What transfers, and what we finish by hand

The tool is designed to flag anything it cannot translate with confidence rather than guess, so a Solution Engineer gets a clear worklist. How much converts automatically depends on your export and how your jobs are built, and a free dry run shows you before you commit.

The tool converts automatically

  • Component mapping: tMap, tFilterRow, tUniqRow and the common job shape convert to their Integrate.io equivalents.
  • Expression logic: TalendDate.parseDate becomes ToDate, ternaries become CASE, string concatenation and .equals() are translated automatically.
  • Connections and column schemas are parsed from the .item graph and wired into a runnable package.

What our Solution Engineers finish

  • Custom Java routines and tJavaRow snippets, which are flagged for review rather than guessed at.
  • Any expression the tool cannot translate with confidence is listed in a per-job report for a Solution Engineer to finish.
  • Source and destination credentials, which are never read from your export.

Integrate.io vs Talend

Integrate.io Talend

Pricing model

Flat $1,999/month, unlimited data, pipelines, and connectors.

Qlik Talend Cloud capacity tiers (data moved, job runs, job duration); some customers remain on older contracts.

How long it takes

Most Talend migrations are scoped in days, with a typical parallel run and cutover inside one to three weeks.

Free dry run

See what converts before you commit

Share a sample of your Talend setup and we will run it through the migration tool and send back a migration report: what converts automatically, what a Solution Engineer finishes, and a scoped plan. No commitment.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to the questions teams ask when evaluating Integrate.io.

Still have questions?

Talk to an expert →
Is Talend Open Studio still supported?

No. Qlik retired Talend Open Studio on January 31, 2024, and it is no longer hosted or updated. Teams still running it receive no bug fixes or security patches. Our migration tool converts Open Studio job exports into Integrate.io pipelines.

Will my tMap and transformation logic transfer?

Yes. The migration tool maps common Talend components and translates the expression logic inside tMap (date parsing, conditionals, string operations, comparisons) into Integrate.io's expression language. Anything it cannot translate with confidence is flagged in a report rather than silently converted.

Do you support Talend Open Studio and Talend Cloud?

Yes. The tool reads the standard Talend job export (the .item XML graph), which Open Studio and commercial Talend Studio both produce. Your Solution Engineer confirms any edition-specific details during scoping.

What happens to custom Java code?

Custom Java routines and tJavaRow snippets are not auto-converted. They are inventoried and listed in your migration report so we can rebuild that logic natively in Integrate.io during the white-glove phase.

How long does a Talend migration take?

The automated pass handles 90%+ of the mechanical work in minutes. From there, most teams are validated in parallel and cut over within one to three weeks, depending on the number and complexity of jobs.
